Meeting of May 24th opened by a time of group prayer. In Attendance: Frank & Sue Fitzsimmons, Jay Poynter, Ray Callahan, Peter and Suzanne Borsella, Mike & Jill Taylor, Stacy Rowe, Karen Binder, Liz Tracy, Linda Kuhlman, and Lea Harlow
Senior Graduation Service: some suggestions for next year were to acknowledge the other Seniors who may be in the sanctuary even if they are not a part of our youth group; possibly do a different luncheon activity to involve the families. Impact and Work Camp Update: Ten MS students and 2 adults [Frank 7 Karen Binder] will leave on Sunday June 5th for Impact. There are 31 students and 7 adults ready to leave for Christiansburg, Virginia for Workcamp on Saturday, June 11th. Quest 05 Summer Camp sign ups are picking up. As of this writing there are 25 students and 4 adults signed up to attend in July. There are only two weeks left for sign ups. 06 Planning Retreat Weekend: [Yes it says '06] is scheduled for July 29th - 31st at the Gold Coast Christian Camp in Boynton Beach. More information to follow Fall Harvest Festival: Our liaison Karen Binder reported that the Fall Festival is to provide scholarships in sports, music and art to those with a need from our church. Shari Sopourn is asking that the youth sponsor a booth of some activity that will generate donations to the scholarship fund. Someone suggested that a youth pastor dunk tank will generate bucks [Frank disagrees but will bow to peer pressure --LOL] The youth will also be expected to pay for the booth as a donation to the fund. Clarification is still needed on that issue. There is some concern about interrupting the pumpkin patch and the availability of parking due to construction at that time. More information to come. D-Team Discussion: Stacy and Karen Binder wanted to discuss D-Teams. Frank wished to wait until we had all the D-Team leaders present. A general discussion of D-Teams ensued. Frank discussed the vision for D-Teams for next year which will be unveiled at a later date and based around Student led small groups. There is a planning and training weekend retreat planned in Sarasota for Friday eveningJuly 8th and Saturday, July 9th. Summer Bible Studies: Frank and Sue will host Bible Studies for MS and HS over the summer months beginning in mid June through the end of July. Dates and times are yet to be determined. Karen Binder volunteered to assist as she can. Administrative Business: Budget: Linda Kuhlman presented a budget item for committee approval of moving funds from some accounts to cover shortfalls in other accounts for the budget ye art to date. Linda said that some unexpected spending can be covered by budgeted but not spent funds from some accounts, and that doing so will not impact future spending needs in those accounts. The items presented are as follows: Workcamp excess $200 to be covered by $200 from unrestrictred UMYF donations Senior Service and Lunch/Gifts $177 over budget - by unused College mentoring funds Student T-Shirts $506 - $375 Cake auction hold back - $131 inkjet recycling Worship expenses - $152 covered unused Confirmation budget Adults to Impact [unknown at budget prep] $320 - Mission donations - $20 Mr. Food funds Adults to Workcamp $1793 - $702 Coke machine profit, $672 YTD Leadership training unused funds; $419 closed out student accounts Remaining resources for emergency funds: Closeout student accounts: $1,141; Inkjet recycling $50; Mr. Food funds $25 Motion to approved made and 2nd'd - unanimous vote to approve these budget moves by all present. [Not present at the time of vote Ray Callahan, Jay Poynter and Liz Tracy] New Business: Missions Opportunities by Liz Tracy: We have picked a date to go visit Bristol Park Nursing Home. Saturday July 9th. We would like the youth band and/or youth choir to entertain the residents and also other students to visit and chat with residents. Meals on Wheels pet division needs dog food donated. I would like Jim
to build a dog house. Collected food can be deposited there on an on
going basis. Ground Breaking of the new youth facility is scheduled Sunday, June 26th between the 9:15 and 11:00 services. The youth will be expected to take part in the ceremony Revolve Tour Girls Retreat Weekend: Sue and Karen are working on getting a group to attend this retreat on September 23rd - 24th in Orlando
